I now make over $130k+/month. See all the Shopify store income reports here.
Maybe you’ve been wanting to start a store, but don’t know where to start or what platform to choose.
Maybe you’re scared to start a store because you don’t know how you’ll possibly be able to drive traffic to it.
Maybe you already have a store and can’t understand why you’re not making anything but chump change in it.
Maybe you’ve spent some time on your store and seen only crickets in traffic.
Maybe you’ve tried other platforms like Etsy, ebay, Amazon, Creative Market, the list goes on and on and have seen a little bit of money, but know there’s more out there for you.
Whatever your situation is, you’re in the right place! Opening up my own Shopify store, very quickly changed my entire life, and while I’m not promising massive amounts of money your very first month, what I AM saying is that most people don’t realize the POWER having your own Shopify store has.
Today, I’m going to be sharing my Shopify store income report for September 2017 (4 months into having my store)
Shopify Store Income Report – $251,276 (September 2017)
Most of you know that I’ve been selling on ebay for over 20 years now. Back before they were even CALLED ebay. 🙂 I was just a teen back then, but really realized the power of selling things online. It was a whole new world for me. An exciting world.
But there are several things I’ve always LOATHED about selling online.
- I HATE to ship products.
- I hate keeping track of inventory.
- I hate keeping everything perfectly organized to sell.
- I hate not being able to find something right as it sells.
- I hate following someone else’s rules.
- I hate when they CHANGE said rules and I have to go back through all my ads and completely redo all of them to comply.
- I hate feeling like I have no ownership over the store. Like I’m powerless.
- I hate not having the capability of making certain sales the way I want them to be, instead of working with the basic tools they give me.
- I hate being at the MERCY of a customer who does something shady and leaves bad feedback and everyone thinks it’s ME who has done something bad. Or competitors who leave negative feedback to ruin you (yep, it’s happened!)
So, while there’s a lot of good things about selling on a platform like eBay or Etsy, there are also a lot of bad things you MUST accept in order to sell on someone else’s “turf.”
I sold on Amazon, I’ve sold on Creative Market, I’ve sold on ebay, I’ve sold on a membership site, I’ve sold on a stock photo site, and I’ve sold on Shopify.
For me, out of all the options I’ve tried, Shopify is, HANDS DOWN, the best way to go.
As you can see from last months’ income report, I went from making $40, 917 last month to $251,276 this month.
The reason is because I took the 90 Day Year course by Todd Herman, a course that literally changed my life.
The course cost me $2,000 and it was a drop in the bucket compared to what I started making AFTER I went through his course. It was worth every penny and more.
I find myself still going back and referencing things in it still to this day, because as I grow, the course grows with me, meaning, there are phases of what we should be working on at each level of the game and each level you surpass, you go back and get your next step!!!
It’s literally like having a built in on-going coach with you at all times!
Even though I got LESS traffic THIS month than last month, I still made way more in revenue.
Income total for September 2017 (Shopify store only; doesn’t include blog/misc. income) – $251,276
Traffic total (to my Shopify store only) for September 2017 – 10,026
Stats per product:
This is my favorite part of researching analytics. Figuring out which products sell (or get downloaded for free) the most. Stuff like this tells me EXACTLY what to create more of in my store and what to stop creating, so it’s something I gauge very heavily.
If you have the $79/month Shopify plan, which I do, you’ll get FANtastic analytics reports that will give you all this information broken down by product. I then go into my newsletter (I have ConvertKit and Leadpages and love them) and compare them in order to get conversion rates.
Financial Freedom Bundle
My newest bundle out this month was my Financial Freedom Bundle.
For this bundle, all I did was take all my ebooks off Amazon that were already written and create a Budget Binder to include with them. Because the books were SOOOO popular on Amazon (most were #1 best sellers) and BECAUSE they were no longer available ON Amazon (or anywhere else for that matter), people started purchasing the bundle.
I got MANY emails asking me to buy the books separately, but, I knew the direction I wanted to go and selling an ebook for $6 just wasn’t profitable enough for me. Not when they are best sellers. Putting them in a bundle and not selling them individually was the key to this product selling so well.
Now keep in mind that I didn’t tell my newsletter about this item until it’s official release date, 11/28/17. This was all happening before I even officially launched the product. I had simply just put the product in my store this month to get it READY to launch!
Hope Binder and 31-Day Course
I released a new Hope Binder and 31-Day Course.
For this product, I was forever getting emails saying that people REALLY LOVED my newsletters. That they were so encouraging and really helped their faith. I decided to start utilizing pre-existing content to sell in my store, so I went through all my past 3 years of newsletters and took out the ones that were the most popular. Best open rates, best clicks, least amount of unsubscribers, etc. I took those newsletters and made each one into a day.
I wrote about 25 newsletters and did that with them and wrote about 6 more new/fresh ones and made it into a 31 day email drip series I had on the blog. It did pretty well on the blog like that, not a massive success, but sustainable, so I decided to create a binder for it along with the course by email and sell it in the store, deleting the newsletter subscribe to the email drip from my blog.
It didn’t really do that well at all. It only sold 2 copies.
Later on, I’d go on to take OFF the 31 day course part and JUST have it as a binder and that was the key to getting it to be a huge hit. As of 3/12/18, it has made me $9,670 for that one product alone and is always in the top 10 products sold each month.
Note to self: my audience doesn’t care for courses, they like binders. It was all in the pitch and wording for me. Once I deleted the “course” term and email drip stuff and just did the binder, they were all over it.
Sometimes getting a product to sell is just about wording. A small little twist can make all the difference from, “Meh” to “Wow!”
My new Fitness Planner!!!
I launched the Fitness Planner on Sept 10. I had this idea of basically taking the same sheets that were in my Medical Binder and redesigning them and targeting it toward Fitness.
January is coming soon and I know lots of people are thinking about Fitness during that time of year. I couldn’t wait to release it in January, eager beaver over here 🙂 , so I put it as a freebie in my store in the gallery picture (free newsletter subscribe).
Immediately, I started getting TONS of signups for my newsletter to get that freebie. By Sept 22, I already had 71 subscribers and it was ONLY promoted there on my homepage of the store and no where else.
People also started purchasing it in the store. It was doing really well and I didn’t even promote it. It was just that one gallery picture. That product would go on to sell 705 copies by 2/13/18!
