Are you new to Cricut software? Wondering how to upload SVGs to Cricut Design Space?
You’re in the right place! 😊
It’s super simple and I’ve got you covered with this easy follow along tutorial. Get ready to have fun creating all sorts of customized items!
For this tutorial I’m using my really cute Free SVG ‘You Matter…Like, a Lot’!
Before we start, if you haven’t done so already, you’re going to want to download the Cricut Design Space software to your desktop computer, or download the app if you are using a mobile device like a tablet or phone.
The Cricut Design Space dashboard is a little different between the desktop version and the app, so I’ve created a tutorial for both to make it a lot easier to follow along with the particular one you are using! 🥰
How to Upload SVG Files to Cricut Design Space Via a Desktop Computer
The first step is opening the Cricut Design Space software on your computer.
On the left hand navigation bar, you’ll see an icon at the very bottom titled ‘Upload’. Click on the ‘Upload’ option to start the procedure of uploading your SVG file.
Once you click the ‘Upload’ icon, your screen will look like the screenshot below. You’ll see an ‘Upload Image’ button to click to upload your file.
Once you click the ‘Upload Image’ button, you have the option to drag and drop your file straight into the Cricut Design Space window, or you can click the ‘Browse’ button to locate the file on your computer.
When you locate the SVG file you want to upload, you may notice that the image has your web browser icon instead of a small preview of the SVG image. This is completely fine and won’t cause any issues, so don’t worry about it. Just select your file and click the ‘Open’ button as normal.
Once your file is open in the Cricut Design Space software, you can enter an image name and optional tags. I’d highly recommend taking the time to add a few descriptive tags to make organizing and filtering much easier when you have tons of images on there!
Click the green ‘Upload’ button on the bottom right when you’ve entered in your image details.
Your file will then appear in the “Recent Uploads” section.
Simply click on your image to select it (a green highlight box will display around your selected image) and then click on the green “Add to Canvas” button on the bottom right of the screen.
Your SVG image will now be available and ready to be cut!
How to Upload SVG Files to Cricut Design Space Via a Mobile Device
First, you want to install the Cricut Design Space app on your tablet or mobile phone. Here’s the iOS app for Apple users and this app for Android users. I will be using the Android app for this tutorial.
Once you are all set up with your app, open the app and click the blue ‘New Project’ box on the top left of the screen.
Next, click the ‘Upload’ option on the bottom navigation bar.
From the pop-up options presented, click ‘Select from Photo Library’ and find the SVG file on your device.
A preview of the file will display on your screen, and from there you can add an image name then click ‘SAVE’ on the top right of the screen.
Your file will now be available in your images panel. You can click on the image to select it (a green highlight will appear around the image) and then click on the green “Insert” button on the bottom right of the screen.
Your SVG image will be available and ready to be cut for all your exciting projects!
