Creative Ways to Use This Adorable Snowman Coloring Printable
Print your copy of the free snowman coloring page on standard 8.5″ x 11″ paper. Grab some crayons, colored pencils, or markers and start decorating your own little winter wonderland! ❄️
For extra fun, try coloring all the scarves in different patterns, giving the snowmen matching winter accessories, or using your favorite pastel colors to create a super cute kawaii-inspired design.
But if you really want to take this printable to the NEXT LEVEL, I’ve got some creative winter activities that turn these little snowmen into an entire world of adventures!
Publish the Snowman Village Newspaper
These adorable snowmen have SO many different things going on that they could fill an entire newspaper!
Here’s the templates…
- Blank newspaper template (create your own)
- Pre-filled newspaper (use the pre-made option as-is or use as inspiration to create your own)
Choose four snowmen from the free printable snowman coloring page to feature as your top stories.
For example:
- Breaking News: Local Snowman Discovers an Entire Stocking Full of Candy
- Sports: Rookie Skier Breaks Snowy Mountain Speed Record
- Weather: Village Announces Emergency Melting Warning
- Entertainment: Snowman Christmas Light Display Goes Hilariously Wrong
Have kids write short newspaper stories, add quotes from the characters, and draw pictures of the breaking events.
You can even include a weather forecast, classified ads for winter accessories, or an interview with the snowman who somehow survived a giant puddle!
The Case of the Melting Snowman Mystery
Somebody call the Snowman Detective Agency! 🔍
One of the adorable snowmen has mysteriously melted, and now EVERYONE is a suspect! 😆
Print the frosty snowman coloring page and turn it into a full-blown winter investigation.
First, identify the melting snowman. Then look around the page for clues.
- Is the snowman holding hot cocoa suspicious?
- Does the snowman relaxing in front of the fan know something?
- Could one of the snowmen playing in the icy water be involved?
- Did someone borrow all the ice cubes?
- Who was the last snowman to see the victim before he started melting?
Choose three snowmen to be detectives and five others to be witnesses.
On the back of the coloring page, write each witness’s statement, identify your suspects, and create a surprising ending to the mystery!
Here’s a twist: Maybe nobody did anything wrong at all. Maybe the melted snowman was secretly testing a new invention that went terribly wrong!
Host the Great Snowman Winter Olympics
You’ve already got a snowman skiing, one ice skating, another sledding, and several who look like they’re having WAY too much fun in their inner tubes. 😂
Why not turn them into Olympic athletes for a fun snow day coloring activity?!
Choose 12 of the snowmen on the snowman doodles coloring page and assign them to different winter competitions.
You could create hilarious new competitions like:
- Longest Snowball Roll
- Fastest Sled Down the Mountain
- Best Ice-Skating Spin
- Most Creative Snowflake Toss
- Fastest Christmas Present Delivery
- Best Snowman Belly Slide
- Most Impressive Inner-Tube Trick
Draw a tournament bracket on the back of the printable.
Have everyone make predictions about which snowman will win each event. Then create imaginary competition results, draw a scoreboard, award medals, and choose the overall Snowman Winter Olympics Champion!
Fun Snowman Seek and Find
There’s so many fun images to make this easy snowman coloring page for kids into a fun I-Spy game!
Have kids search for:
- Hearts – 35
- Snowflakes – 9
- Stars – 9

- Ice Cubes – 16
- Candy Canes – 3
Snowman Activity Sheet Printable: Holiday Roll & Color Game
Turn the simple snowman coloring sheet into a fun Christmas game with a single die. If you don’t have dice in your game closet, here’s a free printable dice template you can print! 😊
Players take turns rolling the dice (use 1 or 2 dice, depending on how fast you want the game to go) and coloring the number of images on the sheet that they rolled.
Whoever finishes coloring all the images on the Christmas snowman coloring sheet WINS!
Snowman Science Lesson: How Is Snow Made? ❄️
Create a little science lesson for kids and talk about how snow is made. You can tell them…
Snow begins high in the clouds, where the air is freezing cold!
Clouds contain invisible water vapor. When the temperature drops below freezing (32°F), water vapor can attach to tiny particles in the air and turn directly into ice crystals. We call this process deposition.
As more water vapor freezes onto the crystals, they grow into beautiful, six-sided shapes. Sometimes several crystals stick together to form one big snowflake!
When they become heavy enough, they fall to the ground. If the air stays cold enough, they reach the ground as snow!
Fun Science Fact: Snowflakes have six-sided structures because of the special way water molecules arrange themselves when they freeze!
Little Snow Scientist Challenge: Next time it snows, catch a snowflake on a dark mitten. Look closely! Can you spot its six-sided pattern before it melts?
• Other printables are either functional OR cute. I bridge the gap between the two. Since I'm a single mom and don't have time to mess around and am a kid at heart, I love something that actually propels me forward and gets the job done quickly, while still having that super cute vibe I'm known for.
• I'm a graphic designer FIRST. This means my printables, whether free or paid for, will always be of the highest quality and print crisp and clear on any printer.
• I love what I do and I do the work myself. I'm not hiring these out. This is my life, my hobby, my passion, my heart.
• My fans are obsessed with my work. To date, I've made over $23M on printables alone (organically) in the past 8 years.
Yes! Except for some large binders, all printables on the blog are 100% free for personal use. I make these because I genuinely want you to have something cute and helpful right now without having to spend a dime. You deserve a life that feels more peaceful, more organized, and more you, and if a simple printable can make your day feel lighter, I am so happy to give that to you.
Printables, graphics, backgrounds, SVGs, fonts, and design elements on this site are for personal use only. You may not alter them or redistribute them for free or monetary gain without written consent from the author, Sarah Titus. If you want to share these resources with others, please share the link to the blog post. Teachers & Churches: You may share these with your classes, colleagues, and congregation as long as they are not edited in any way.
Absolutely! You're welcome to print as many copies as you need for your own students or church groups. I only ask that you do not edit them in any way (leaving the full copyright line in tact) or sell them or host the digital files on other websites. Please always link back to this post to share with others.
• For best results, I recommend using standard 8.5"x11" white paper. Since these are professionally designed as high-resolution PDFs, they'll stay crisp and clear on any printer. To print, simply download the PDF to your device and open your printer settings. Select "Fit to Page" to ensure the printable looks perfect.
• If you're printing stickers, I have a tutorial here.
