How to Use This Printable October Maze Worksheet
Create an October Story Trail
Instead of racing straight through the maze, turn the path into a story!
Every time your pencil passes close to one of the cute October characters, add that character to the story. Maybe the kitty popping out of the pumpkin is looking for the little bow-wearing ghost, who needs help finding the scarecrow before the moon comes out. 🌙
By the time the October maze for kids is finished, you’ll have a completely funny little October adventure to tell! 🎃
👉 Make a Word Builder Game 🎉
Use the October puzzle for kids as a fun and educational October classroom activity, a word creation game!! 🥳
After kids solve the October coloring maze (using a yellow highlighter or pencil would be best), have them collect all the letters in that correct path as a word bank to create new words.
Here’s the October letter path game PDF, and here’s the October paper game with letters answer key…
This will give you the letters: C, E, I, O, K, H, F, M, L, N, B, T, R, P
Here’s a few quick words you can make with those letters…
- Pen
- Let
- Men
- Hot
- Note
- Top
- Kite
- Home
- Lion
- Kite
- Hop
- Phone
- Climb
Then the top three people who create the most amount of correct words within a set amount of time on this October puzzle free printable, wins a prize! 🏆 You could give them a free October bookmark (or any other bookmark- here’s over 400+ to choose from) and a couple pieces of candy or candy bar as a treat.
Create an October Color Quest
Before coloring the October activity printable page, make up a few silly coloring rules. 🖍️
For example:
- Every pumpkin must use at least three colors.
- Every star gets a different color.
- The ghost’s bow has to match the kitty’s pumpkin.
- The scarecrow needs one completely unexpected color.
- Pick one tiny doodle and hide it by coloring it to blend into something nearby.
It transforms the October game for kids into a creative challenge instead of simply coloring everything the usual way.
October Fun Sheet: Scarecrow Storytime
Have students write a short, silly story about the cute scarecrow character at the bottom of the page after they finish the maze.
They can give him a name and invent a backstory about where he lives in the fields.
This turns a simple month of October game into a full creative writing exercise. 🎉
It’s a fantastic way to practice handwriting while using their imagination.
Spider Math
Ask them to count the cute spider’s legs on this cute and fun October printable for students and use that number to create simple addition or subtraction problems on the back of the sheet.
For example, they can figure out how many legs three spiders would have combined.
They can also draw their own spiders on the back to match the math equations they create.
It’s an easy way to sneak some math review into the activity while they’re already engaged.
• Other printables are either functional OR cute. I bridge the gap between the two. Since I'm a single mom and don't have time to mess around and am a kid at heart, I love something that actually propels me forward and gets the job done quickly, while still having that super cute vibe I'm known for.
• I'm a graphic designer FIRST. This means my printables, whether free or paid for, will always be of the highest quality and print crisp and clear on any printer.
• I love what I do and I do the work myself. I'm not hiring these out. This is my life, my hobby, my passion, my heart.
• My fans are obsessed with my work. To date, I've made over $23M on printables alone (organically) in the past 8 years.
Yes! Except for some large binders, all printables on the blog are 100% free for personal use. I make these because I genuinely want you to have something cute and helpful right now without having to spend a dime. You deserve a life that feels more peaceful, more organized, and more you, and if a simple printable can make your day feel lighter, I am so happy to give that to you.
Printables, graphics, backgrounds, SVGs, fonts, and design elements on this site are for personal use only. You may not alter them or redistribute them for free or monetary gain without written consent from the author, Sarah Titus. If you want to share these resources with others, please share the link to the blog post. Teachers & Churches: You may share these with your classes, colleagues, and congregation as long as they are not edited in any way.
Absolutely! You're welcome to print as many copies as you need for your own students or church groups. I only ask that you do not edit them in any way (leaving the full copyright line in tact) or sell them or host the digital files on other websites. Please always link back to this post to share with others.
• For best results, I recommend using standard 8.5"x11" white paper. Since these are professionally designed as high-resolution PDFs, they'll stay crisp and clear on any printer. To print, simply download the PDF to your device and open your printer settings. Select "Fit to Page" to ensure the printable looks perfect.
• If you're printing stickers, I have a tutorial here.
