I love the holidays, but one thing I don’t love is the push toward “things” – materialism. The fact is, as holy and grand as Jesus coming to redeem us is, it was done in simplicity. The simplest of beginnings brought about the greatest of blessings. 💎

Jesus arrival could not have been more humble – born in a stable surrounded by animals because there was no room anywhere else, which just reiterates the verse Matthew 20:16.

“So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.”

If Jesus’ earthly parents were kings, noblemen, wealthy people, they would have been able to find something. They would have been able to stay in a palace, with other noblemen, etc. This shows that they were not considered first in earthly terms and that gives hope to all of US too. 💯

You may not be a congress woman, you may not be the president and CEO of some Fortune 500 company. You know what…it doesn’t matter!

The importance of that moment was not the “where” but the WHO. Jesus, the Savior of all mankind, had come to us in the flesh to dwell among us and deliver us from all sin. That sounds like a tall order, but, often, while sacrifice is so big, the decision is so simple.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God’s love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8), and He proved that by making the decision to send his one and only Son to pay the price for us – all we have to do is believe. Simple, right?

And, I know, people always say how hard it is to live a Christian life, and that can be true. We have to stay in the Word and in prayer and really rely on the Spirit to help us through. But Jesus already did all the heavy lifting – HE paid the price so that we could have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). All we have to do is believe. Simple.
