What a wonderful opportunity for me, Deb Foglia from Seeking Lavendar Lane, to be back here on Sarah’s site to share some more decorating on a budget advice. I hope you all enjoyed my last post about home decor ideas for creating a larger room on a budget here. I am so ready to share some more house decor tips and tricks today and look forward to being back each month with some more interior design advice.
This week I am sharing an awesome and very simple way to achieve a finished look in your home with using something that we all have around our home….accessories!
Now, I do not mean home decor accessories, I mean our very own accessories. You know, hats, scarves, boots, jewelry etc. This is a simple trick that trendy magazine’s use all the time to achieve the “lived in” look. It is a simple trick to not only look cute, but also a way to store some bulky accessories that are taking up too much room in your closet.
How to Decorate a Home on a Budget With Fashion Accessories
I am a big fan of displaying bulky boots for winter and hats and tote bags for spring and summer. Lets face it, we love to live easily in our homes as much as we love decorating them…why not be able to have those set of rain boots waiting for you by the front door on a rainy day? It happens to be a fabulous accessory.

Below are a few simple ways that I use this “design” look in my own home.
Here are those easy-to-throw-on rain boots waiting for me to put on. Love how they fill up this extra space…and create a little charming feel to my entryway.
My newest addition to my room…these adorable $3 straw hats I picked up from Target. They helped fill up these blank walls really fast and didn’t cost me barely anything to do. Not quite sure this will be a permanent feature or I will be leaving it for summer, but love the texture it gives to this space.
Adding one or two hats to an existing mudroom or hooks in an entryway would be just as adorable.
I love these boots above. I seriously do not know whether I bought them more to put them on display in my family room, or for my feet. I take these out only during the fall and winter time and then hide them back in the closet for spring and summer.
Using hooks outside of your closet helps make for easy ways to toss your jackets and bags onto, but remember to tidy it up when guests are over. Two simple sweatshirts hung on the above hook is helpful and presentable at the same time. This photo is in my son’s room and currently is filled with a whole lot more than what is here. When necessary, I neaten the corner up but use the “prettiest” items to fill up the empty space.
This easy design trick can be pulled off if you are picking the right corner in your house along with the right accessories. Make sure to pick colors that are matching the room and with texture and style that adds character. Example: Straw, canvas, stripes, pop of color, leather, etc.
Looking forward to being back next month; hope this was an easy trick all of you can use for your home decoration ideas. Love to see how this is used in your home please Facebook or Tweet me with YOUR photos!
