Teaching little ones about the fruit of the Spirit, I’m convinced, is one of the BEST truths we can teach our children. 💯
Not only do they love the “fruit” 🍉 aspect of it, but it teaches them two very different and important things.
First, what we should try to be like. If we are Christians, we are witnesses for Christ to the world and we want to be full of these characteristics. It’s something to pattern our lives after.
But secondly, it also shows them the difference between a genuine believer and someone who fakes their way through life saying they are Christian.
If they meet someone who says they are Christian and yet, that person is really mean and do not love others, while we cannot judge other people’s salvation, we definitely want to be aware of it so we don’t take their advice, don’t make them our best friend, etc.
We want to make sure that someone who is not walking in light is not leading US or affecting OUR light and walk with Christ.
And sadly, there are people everywhere who say they love God, but do not have the love of God in them at all. 🥺
As a kid, it’s so important to not let our friends entice us to sin, to not go along with the crowd if the crowd is doing something morally wrong.
Proverbs 13:20 tells us that when we are companions with fools, we suffer harm. It’s not just saying, we see what they do and it’s bad and we’re safe from that because we don’t participate. No, it says, we SUFFER HARM.
1 Corinthians 15:33 tells us that we are not to be deceived, and that bad people completely ruin our good intentions.
Who we spend time with, who we are friends with, who we ultimately choose as our marriage partner, all these things matter.
And teaching kids early about all these things is wise and profitable for both them and as a reminder to us, also.
It’s something that, even as a little girl, affected me. I would see my fellow peers getting into trouble and I’d stay far away from them. Oftentimes, that meant me playing by myself. I was okay with that. I’d rather be by myself than in the company of fools. 💯
Over the years, I’d meet a couple good friends, but I just never wanted anything to do with fools. I still don’t.
I went to a concert with a few friends of mine and they were definitely acting like they were on a “manhunt”. They were acting so unbefitting of single women. One of them asked me why I wasn’t acting that way and I simply said that I didn’t want to. That I wanted true love instead. To me, acting in that manner is not how you find true love.
They went on with their deplorable behavior after my words, behavior that was very offensive to me, and I continued through the concert not joining in with them in their behavior and stopped hanging out with them outside of church after that. I mean, these are very godly women. Women who I’d never seen this side of them before, but I promise you, it WAS the last.
I want to behave in a godly way concerning men, both in private and in public. So, I didn’t hang out with them anymore and haven’t since, not outside of church. I let the friendships go and found other friendships.
Sometimes, your principles will be tested and we need to teach our children that. To stand strong. To stand up for what we believe is right, for God’s truths, for His principles.
The fruit of the Spirit is the standard of the Christian life. 🥰
Even a brand-new, baby believer will show SOME fruit. Even if it’s in small ways until the fruit is more developed (sanctification).
If someone is not showing fruit, we have a right to question their salvation in order to not deceive ourselves and to protect ourselves from harm (Genesis 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8).
So teaching our children about the fruit of the Spirit is SOOO vitally important!
Every believing parent should make this teaching a priority! And, in order to help you in that endeavor, ❤️ I’ve created this cute, fun Fruit of the Spirit Spinner Craft and a whole series of cute fruit of the Spirit (and similar) resources you can check out here…

• Other printables are either functional OR cute. I bridge the gap between the two. Since I'm a single mom and don't have time to mess around and am a kid at heart, I love something that actually propels me forward and gets the job done quickly, while still having that super cute vibe I'm known for.
• I'm a graphic designer FIRST. This means my printables, whether free or paid for, will always be of the highest quality and print crisp and clear on any printer.
• I love what I do and I do the work myself. I'm not hiring these out. This is my life, my hobby, my passion, my heart.
• My fans are obsessed with my work. To date, I've made over $23M on printables alone (organically) in the past 8 years.
Yes! Except for some large binders, all printables on the blog are 100% free for personal use. I make these because I genuinely want you to have something cute and helpful right now without having to spend a dime. You deserve a life that feels more peaceful, more organized, and more you, and if a simple printable can make your day feel lighter, I am so happy to give that to you.
