I was talking with someone who works outside the home and she was saying how she hated her job. Later on as she walked in my home and saw my fireplace mantle sign, she said, “That’s nice for YOU, but for me, I just need to put food on the table,” and she dismissed the whole idea of doing what you love and walked away, feeling like something was missing.
Here she is, married, and trying to make ends meet and she comes across someone like me, a single mom at the time and just, couldn’t put two and two together. Couldn’t figure out HOW I do what I do. I get to work from home and live my dream life.
Listen I get it.
Society tells you that you have to work outside the home.
Society tells you you’ll never make it. Go back home and leave your dreams on the side of the pavement for someone ELSE to collect because YOU, can’t do it.
They say that to EVERYONE!
Anyone who’ll listen anyway.
Are you listening to them?
Are you listening to that hogwash??
The truth is that yes, we all have to eat and help our families and I get it. As a single mom and someone who was homeless, I get it more than most. I understand the pain and the discouragement you feel, EVERY SINGLE DAY trying to make it.
But you can’t listen to them.
Listen, God put me on this planet to tell you: YOU CAN do this.
You don’t have to settle for what you don’t want in life. You can have more, but it starts first with the right thoughts. The right attitude. Stop believing them when they tell you that you can’t. Believe that you can.
When I was sittin’ there in that homeless shelter, I lost all hope. I didn’t think I’d make it. There was a part of me that DID give up. But I kept reading my Bible, kept begging for answers and every single thing He convicted me to do, I’d do it.
My heart was WIDE OPEN. Is yours?
Step one, no holds barred, IS your heart wide open?
See you can’t RECEIVE…well, ANYTHING, when your heart is shut.
If someone wants to love you, you can’t GET that love because your heart isn’t open to it. They can try and try and try with all their might to love you, but unless you open your heart to receive it, you cannot have it.
The same is true in life. Unless you open yourself up, you can’t have the things you want. She may never go on to stop working outside of the home and it’ll BE because she’s not open to the idea. She’s totally rejected the mere thought.
“OH that works for someone else but not ME.”
NO!!!
I was homeless! You can’t GET any further down on the ground than that. You have to be open.
Being open isn’t going to solve all your problems. You can’t have your dream life just simply clicking your red heels together and wishing for it like Dorothy in Wizard of Oz. But it’s the START.
Are you open to having something in your life that you THINK is impossible? Maybe God wants to show you otherwise. Maybe not. But you won’t know until you’re open.
Start there.
Start with being open. Then, start taking actionable steps toward what you want. Even if it’s the most teeniest, tiniest steps. It’s still steps!
Open your heart. Take the step. You might surprise yourself! I did.
Color this printable. Color it over and over, tell yourself that you CAN do what you love!!!

• Other printables are either functional OR cute. I bridge the gap between the two. Since I'm a single mom and don't have time to mess around and am a kid at heart, I love something that actually propels me forward and gets the job done quickly, while still having that super cute vibe I'm known for.
• I'm a graphic designer FIRST. This means my printables, whether free or paid for, will always be of the highest quality and print crisp and clear on any printer.
• I love what I do and I do the work myself. I'm not hiring these out. This is my life, my hobby, my passion, my heart.
• My fans are obsessed with my work. To date, I've made over $23M on printables alone (organically) in the past 8 years.
Yes! Except for some large binders, all printables on the blog are 100% free for personal use. I make these because I genuinely want you to have something cute and helpful right now without having to spend a dime. You deserve a life that feels more peaceful, more organized, and more you, and if a simple printable can make your day feel lighter, I am so happy to give that to you.
Absolutely! You're welcome to print as many copies as you need for your own students or church groups. I only ask that you do not edit them in any way (leaving the full copyright line in tact) or sell them or host the digital files on other websites. Please always link back to this post to share with others.
For best results, I recommend printing on 8.5"x11" white paper. These are professionally designed as high-resolution PDFs so they will stay crisp and clear, making them perfect for any printer.
