“All you need is Jesus” leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. Does it you, too?

I’ve been around christians/Christians before and they say quickly, “All you need is Jesus” and that’s the end of the conversation.

It’s like some quick bandaid fix. Some, run in, spit out some words and run out type of thing.

Usually it’s legalistic people who are saying it, and I’ve had my share fair of them…after all, I used to be one!

Oh, how disgusting that behavior is.

The other day someone was hurting, just crying and wanting to kill themselves, and I heard another person say, “All you need is Jesus”.

While they meant it in a good way, it can come off so cold, distant, and, more than that, indifferent.

There’s no love or feeling behind it. It’s just this cliche thing some people say as if the answer is only Jesus.

Is it?

Will all your problems be wiped away if only you knew Jesus? If only you were a believer?

Yes and no.

As genuine believers, our problems become God’s. He carries our burdens, He lifts us up out of the miry clay we were in. He gives us a new name; we become His children. Suddenly we have family (God’s children). Suddenly we have a new home (Heaven). But that’s not to say all our problems go away when we become a believer.

You still suffer. You still are persecuted, go through trials, are sad. The Bible says the rain falls on the unjust and the just (Matthew 5:45).

Life is not all hunky dory after we become saved, but it DOES become better.

Why?

Because my father is no longer Satan, it’s God. And Satan is cruel and evil, and God is good and merciful, just and fair.

If you, like me, have heard, “All you need is Jesus”, and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth, know that today not EVERYONE who says it is being insensitive.

Maybe it’s really part of their heart, and they know the answer IS Jesus Christ.

Today I want to tell you that while you won’t have a perfect life here on earth, the answer truly IS God. He won’t make all your problems disappear, but He loves you more than life itself. He died for you. He sacrifices for you daily. He cares about you so much more than you realize. He wants to be part of your life, every day, moment by moment, and He is good.

You are so loved. You are part of His eternal plan. He wants to give you hope and a future whether you’re a believer or not. He wants to love you. Will you let Him? Will you say to Him today that you’re tired of doing things on your own, and you just want to give Him all your burdens and let Him carry them? Let Him fix all the problems that seem like they can’t go away. Let His immense love for you surround you and envelope you. Let His arms of comfort be upon you today.

Yes, truly, we can have JOY and say, “All we need is Jesus”. We don’t need this earth or anyone in it to be happy. We can find everlasting love in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray that every day He shows you His great love and that you learn to trust Him like never before. He’s got you in the palm of His hand, and He will never let go.
